About Roar Justad Roar Justad was the owner of the establishment from 1975 to 2023. He welcomed guests from Norway and around the world, imparting his unique touch to the place. He became a host and friend to globetrotters, avid anglers, young families, students, and retirees. Many guests return year after year. "Stamsund Youthhostel" Under the name "Stamsund Youthhostel," Justad Rorbuer and Vandrerhjem gained fame among travelers worldwide. It was recognized as the "best youth hostel in the world in 2002" by The Times. Lonely Planet referred to Roar as a "benevolent wizard." Guests describe the place as "a gem in the heart of Lofoten." Time has passed. The world has changed. Stamsund Hostel has changed a bit too—there is now WiFi available on-site! Yet, in a way, the atmosphere remains the same. It's something indescribable.
