Say HI! for Peace & Play for Peace

Every year on September 21st, for the international day of peace, Hostelling International brings people together through the Say HI for Peace campaign. The goal is simple but a powerful reminder; to build awareness and to highlight that peace is built through actively choosing the good in every day life. And by meeting, connecting, and understanding each other across cultures and communities.

This year, HI Norway joined the global campaign by creating our own short film - produced together with young travelers, volunteers and staff from our hostels.

Why peace matters

HI hostels have always been more than just a bed for the night. They are places where people from every corner of the world meet, share stories, and discover new perspectives. The Say HI for Peace campaign reminds us that every aware, heart-charged action is a step toward unity and peace.

A collective effort

The 2025 video was filmed together with our community here in Norway — capturing the energy of travel, youth, and solidarity. From the first storyboard meeting to the final edit, it was a true team effort that showed the spirit of HI, which is goodness and kindness.
