EVS at Hostelling International Norway – something for you?

We are searching for EVS volunteers from June 1st, 2017 for a period of 12 months.
The EVS volunteers will be responsible for our “Sustainable Travel and Hostel Life” programme, where the volunteers will have the chance to try various activities with a focus on sustainable tourism and communciation.

Why are we having EVS volunteers?

2017 is the UN International Year of Sustainable Tourism, which will be celebrated at Hostelling International throughout the year. We will do lots of activities in the hostels, such as swapping events, movie nights, barbeques, workshops in our Urban Garden etc. And this we’d love for you to take part in!

We are looking for motivated young people (18-30) that are willing to spend one year in Norway, learning about Norwegian culture together with people from all over the world. You have to be flexible, open-minded and have a strong wish to get to know other travelers and bring people together. We promise you a year you won’t forget. If you have experience in video editing, blog writing, photography or sustainable tourism, please mention this in the application. We are looking for young people who are willing to learn new skills.

What are the tasks? 

Typical tasks for our EVS volunteers:

  • make social events and happenings in the hostel: city walks, hikes, “coffee and cookies”,
  • work with social media: make videos of guest activities, make interviews and blog posts for our blog sayhitonorway.com
  • focus on sustainable tourism by measuring energy & waste, promote green travel, take part in projects focusing on public transportation, tourism and youth responsible travel

HI Norway has 50+ hostels all over Norway. The volunteers will be placed in Oslo, Bergen and for shorter stays in other hostels around the country. You will get the chance to visit some great Norwegian scenery and most importantly, meet interested and motivated people from all over the world.
