Kongsberg Hostel is a high standard hostel in the town centre, yet in quiet surroundings. All rooms are en suite, with TV and wireless connection. Facilities for meetings and celebrations. The hostel has a large, free parking area.
Kongsberg is the Silver and Skiing Town! It was built on silver mining from 1624, and is surrounded by hills and mountains. Many cultural monuments originating from its wealthy silver mining period. The Numedalslågen River, with its impressive waterfalls, flows through the town centre, and the surrounding countryside is a joy to explore – summer as winter. The town’s character reflects its mining culture and skiing history, which can also be experienced in the Silver Mines, the museums and the magnificent baroque church towering near the hostel. 18-holes golf facilities just outside town.
Attractions: The Norwegian Mining Museum where you can join a guided tour by train into the “King´s Mine”, the Royal Coin Museum and Kongsberg Church (Norway´s largest), Labro Vassdragsmuseum (river course museum), which shows the history of the Numedalslågen river, Kongsberg arms factory museum and 18-hole golf course nearby.
Kongsberg is a top winter sports centre, and the town hosts a ski museum.
